  1. We went from 12-13 to 10, then 8 and now 6 episodes for these shows, so it’s only natural for them to cut the time now, shrinkflation is everywhere.

    If all of this would at least result in minimal waiting time between seasons, I would at least get it, wouldn’t be a fan but it would be acceptable.

    But we’re at a point where they cut down the episode count, the runtime AND the time between seasons averages 2 years and that’s lightning quick compared to certain shows.

    Fuck this shit, it’s not worth investing time in these shows.

  3. This isn’t an epic story based off of the tomes of source material.  It’s based off of a novella that is closer to a slice of life than any of the other Game of Thrones stories.

Trying to force the Hedge Knight into 10 prestige hour long episodes of television wouldve been a Hobbit level disaster, this is a case where people need to accept what they get in the trailer is what the story will be, there’s no shortchanging of a bigger or grander story with a wide ensamble like GOT/HOTD. 

    Time will tell if it works onscreen but id be more worried if they were trying to force it to match GOT without missing what makes the short stories work

  8. If they made an 85 page story into a 10 hour show, everyone would complain endlessly about filler.

    Six half hour episodes is perfect.

  10. 30 mins doesn’t bother me. It’s the 6 episodes that got me like wow.

  14. They are tiny little tales with a much lighter tone (and a much lower budget). Making them 30 minutes is completely fine.

  19. If the writing, and cinematography is good which I’m sure it will be, I’ll be happy. I’d rather love the series and want more than longer episodes/season with garbage mixed in.

  21. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Murderbot’s 30 min run time – it’s kept the writing more tight. It’s a bit refreshing actually

  22. So, 25 minutes without opening and end credits. That’s like a 2.5 hour movie.

    Spread out. Over 6 weeks.

    Hard pass.

  23. I dunno about all that. Seems sensible to me for there to be 6 shorter eps per book/chapter. So long as the time is used well and not full of bullpucky.

  25. For this series? 30 minutes per episode is understandable. I’d prefer 45 to an hour personally, but the Dunk and Egg stories are short. There just isn’t that much source material and the stakes aren’t as high as GoT or House of the Dragon.

  27. 6 episodes? 30 minutes each? Fuck yeah. Letterkenny and Shoresy are great shows with the same setup. I think this is a good move. I’m excited. Not all shows need to be 60 minutes.

  28. Read the book and you will find out why it’s so short. If they wanted to, they probably could have knocked the all of the novelas in one season

  32. Im annoyed that they are still doing GoT. They rushed the ending so they could produce spin offs?? Yes im still bitter years later

  34. How is this shit still happening after the dumpster fire abortion that was the original show? Did you not learn your lesson the first time around?

  35. 3 hours of footage for 118 pages of material sounds pretty reasonable to me.
