Japan’s largest opposition party plans to support a unified candidate in collaboration with other groups in an effort to block Ms. Sanae Takaichi’s election as prime minister, according to media reports following the collapse of the ruling coalition.

Junior partner Komeito quit its 26-year alliance with the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Oct 10, putting in peril Ms Takaichi’s bid to become the country’s first female premier, News.Az reports citing foreign media.
