German defense manufacturer Rheinmetall will deliver Skyranger 35 air defense systems, mounted on Leopard 1 chassis, to Ukraine.
The purchase will be funded by an unnamed EU member state using proceeds from frozen Russian assets.

📌Rheinmetall stated that the contract is worth several hundred million euros.

  3. These will be deployed in the Ukrainian interior to defend major population centers, critical infrastructure and military installations.

    So, Russia will pay to have the very drones destroyed they send against Ukrainian cities every night.

    Joke aside, skyranger is a fantastic air defense system that can be used in most situations as far as I know from the testing results.

    In about 3 years most russians air attacks would be completely denied if this rate of investments keeps the same level.
    Behind the curtains you have no idea of the scale of military developments in Ukraine and the huge sponsorships.

  12. Promotional videos aren’t the same as actually knocking drones out of the sky at night. I hope the system works and saves lives. Cowardly drone attacks are the only thing the russians are any good at.

    I’m guessing we’ll never know how many units will be sent. Hopefully enough to really make a difference.

  13. I love when new hi-tech systems are being built and sent to Ukraine but really, Ukraine needs **mass** of equipment. Not a handful of top of the line systems here and there.

    They need a few thousand of vehicles like these. They need thousands of other combat vehicles, tens of thousands of artillery systems, thousands of long and mid range cruise missiles etc.

    soon 4 years into this shit and Ukraine is still being drip-fed the minimum of what it needs
