Where is your old treasured bottle opener from?

  1. I had that once…..

Now it’s a Guinness toucan and a wine cork no name gadget.

  2. I’ve got one that we bought on our first holiday abroad as a family, it’s not that old but it’s got great memories attached.

  3. Honestly, mine cost like £3 from Asda a few weeks before I went to uni. Fifteen years later, it’s still the best bottle opener and corkscrew that I own.

  4. I stole mine from my parents when I moved out in 1999. It was old then, so heaven only know where it is from

  5. It was left when I moved in and I’ve never needed to get another one

  6. From a Christmas Cracker, like all good bottle openers should be.

  7. Mine is a reasonably plain Steel opener I keep on my keys.

Just comes from working a bar, never be without a bottle opener, so I keep it with me, and have done for 20 years at this point.

  8. I’ve got a really brilliant one from a little wine shop in France, they gave it to me along with a bottle of wine as we realised the owner was a friend of a friend. A very nice memory.

  9. my treasured one is probably in my leatherman as it was a leaving gift at old employer

  10. Keyring, I was given it by a former landlord about 25 years ago now and it’s still going strong. If I ever lose it I’ll have to find something almost exactly the same.

  11. I got a hippo shaped one from a Christmas cracker and it was on my key ring for like 15 years, until it got worn down so much it wouldn’t open bottles anymore. That thing must have opened 1000s of bottles during its life.

  12. Me and a few mates all worked in or managed various Threshers/Bottoms Ups in the late 90s/early 00s. This bottle opener brings back many happy memories of sitting in the back office, drinking beers, playing guitar or broomstick cricket and smoking weed.

  13. Got mine from Woolworths in the late 90’s 🥴

  14. I wear a belt one and have a big magnetic one on the fridge. I also have one on my keys. There’s also a souvenir wine bottle one with corkscrew floating around. Former brewer.

  15. My niece bought me my favourite bottle opener. It’s just a small rectangle of metal, with an opening to put the bottle lid in, but it has a picture of Columbo on it and the words: just one more beer.

    I love it (and Columbo)

  16. From the pub my uncle owned in the 60s/70s. But only around 10 years ago. We still drink there sometimes, uncle emigrated to Australia before I was born in 1982.

  17. Cyprus. The knife and corkscrew are both gone, but the trusty bottle opener remains.

  18. I’ve got one of those dancing French ladies with the hairy armpits that I’m pretty sure I nicked from mum and dad’s when I moved out 12 years ago.

  19. That takes me back! I used to be a manager for threshers (the local side of the business) I still have one of their bottle openers now

  20. I can smell that bottle opener, it smells like wood. Wood panels and barrels.

  21. I have a bar blade from my first bar job. Someone who was leaving gave it to me. It’s got the Stella Artois logo engraved in it. No idea how old it is. I hope to one day pass it down to my son.

  22. I have one I pinched from a gite I rented in southern France 20 years ago. The property was truly awful, the one redeeming feature of the place was a cheap and cheerful barkeepers friend (branded with some or other booze that it came free with) corkscrew much like the one in the image, that was just so beautifully formed that it always opens a bottle perfectly first time, every time. Never come across one like it before or since. Went out and bought a much ‘better’ one at the local supermarket and left that in the house instead. Opened a bottle with it tonight, it’s the first thing I’d save in the kitchen if the house went up in flames.
