Romania’s AnimaWings has launched its first scheduled flights to Istanbul Airport, expanding direct air connectivity between Romania and Türkiye.

The airline began regular operations in October, marking its entry into Istanbul with multiple weekly services from five Romanian cities.

The inaugural flight from Bucharest was welcomed with a ceremony at Istanbul Airport’s B15 gate. With AnimaWings’ launch, the number of airlines operating at Istanbul Airport has risen to 115, strengthening the hub’s position as one of Europe’s busiest international gateways.

New Routes from Five Romanian Cities

AnimaWings now operates flights from Bucharest, Craiova, Timișoara, Iași, and Cluj-Napoca to Istanbul on different schedules. The Bucharest–Istanbul route runs five times a week—on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. Craiova and Timișoara flights each operate twice weekly, on Monday and Friday, while Iași flights are offered three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Services from Cluj-Napoca operate on Thursday and Sunday.

The new routes provide greater connectivity between Romania and Türkiye for both business and leisure travelers, further integrating the two markets. Istanbul Airport’s growing list of European destinations continues to enhance its role as a major aviation hub connecting Europe, Asia, and beyond.

Strengthening Regional Air Links

AnimaWings, based in Bucharest, has been expanding its network within Europe. The launch of its Istanbul routes is part of a broader strategy to establish more frequent and reliable links between Romania and regional destinations. The new services aim to meet increasing demand from passengers traveling for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Istanbul Airport continues to attract new carriers since its opening in 2019, serving as a central hub for both short- and long-haul operations. With AnimaWings joining its roster, the airport further diversifies its airline portfolio and strengthens its position as a key bridge between Eastern Europe and the rest of the world.
