  1. Yep thats right, Merkel is a useful idiot. She was always stucked in the ‚Glory of big RuZZia‘, same as a lot of eastern Germans are still today. It’s called „Ost-algie“ (nostalgia for the east) and it is a big danger for rhe security of us all.

  2. She hoped , that this relation would keep russia peaceful towards the west … not well thought, specially after 2013 🤨

  3. Well she did everything she could to make sure germany wont be a power for long decades.

    Most destructive german since 1945.

  4. How about Schröder? It seems to me he prepared the bed in which Merkel slept.

  5. and she did for the love of the game, she’s not even gonna get a seat on gazprom board

  6. German here. It’s not that simple. We collectively wanted to believe for too long ruzzia could be a friend or at least not be in the way of western democracies.
Merkel“s big flaw was that she didn’t (want to) wake up from that dream in 2014.
She was never a leader, the only brave decision was to say „we can master the refugee crisis“ which then she didn’t really do.
She can blamed for for a lot of things but in the end she was elected representative so we better look in the mirror. Countries get the government they deserve.
Don’t look back now. Let’s arm UA to the teeth and drive pootin to hell. It’s also what most Germans can agree on today.

  7. She played same role during Russian invasion of Georgia, annexation of Crimea, earlier postponing EU/NATO accessing for Ukraine etc. etc…

    Gut gemacht tovarisch Angela Horstovna.

  8. So not only did she damage EU with her delusional policies, but also basically ate up Russia propaganda machine, even after Crimea, the amount of damage this woman did is disgusting, and we are left to deal with the consequences.

  9. Germany was on good terms with Russia for most of the recent history. Speaking as a Pole 😩 to my German friends: please can you finally learn your lesson? And put the pressure on your politicians. AFD wouldn’t exist if it didn’t have support.

  10. Oof

    > With the support of Merkel’s government, plans were made to create a network of Russian training centers modeled on the German Altmark training ground, where simulations of modern combat were practiced. These centers aimed to increase the effectiveness of Russian forces and prepare them for contemporary combat scenarios.

    > At the NATO summit in Bucharest in April 2008, Ukraine and Georgia were denied a Membership Action Plan, a decision partly influenced by Merkel’s position.

    > A few months later, Moscow launched military operations against Georgia. Berlin policymakers believed that cooperation with Russia would promote regional stability, but in practice, it strengthened Russia’s military potential ahead of its invasion of Ukraine.

  11. Stasi whore was an russian asset? No way, who would even though

  12. Then why did Russia use Soviet tactics when they invaded Ukraine? This article makes no sense. There was a phase of appeasement politics between the west and Russia which obviously didn’t work.

If Merkel had a role in Russia‘s invasion, then only because she retired. Putin would have never tried that when she was chancellor. Scholz was the weak guy at the top Putin needed.

  13. If ever there was a case study for the limits of liberal international relations theory, this was it. Russia was never going to be a peaceful actor, no matter how integrated into the Western economic order they became. Now NATO collectively get to fund expensive missiles to blow up all the expensive equipment and infrastructure Europe indirectly subsidized during the 90s and 00s.

  14. That woman will forever have blood on her hands. For other reasons aswell.
