  1. Lass dir raten trinke Spaten!

Spaten is great, don’t know about Erdinger but I assume it’s mediocre

  2. Augustiner helles
    Oberdorfer
    Chiemsee 👍👍👍

  3. Erdinger makes good Weizenbier. I haven’t tried their Helles, surely can’t be bad but it’s not their specialty (I didn’t even know they made anything else than Weizen).

  4. Spaten is great!

Augustiner hell I would recommend to try. That’s my favorite.

  5. Augustiner (Hell or Edelstoff) is considered one of the best Munich beers still being independent from one of the large holdings.

Giesinger is the (relatively) new player on Munichs beer market.

Spaten and erdinger (hell) are considered solid standard products but not exactly outstanding.

  6. Both decent choices but not exceptional in any way. Erdinger helles is kinda meh to be honest and spatennisnt as good as it used to be… But still. It’s Bavarian helles, how bad can it get?

  7. Am I the only one who never had Helles from Erdinger? For some reason I only know their Weißbier.

  8. I like both. In general, Germany is great in terms of beer quality, but not variety. Not gonna find many bad beers here

  9. Between mediocre and good. Try Tegernseer Hell 🙂

  10. Spaten is okay, but it’s owned by AB InBev, which I’m not a fan of.

Erdinger has a solid wheat beer and, since the acquisition of Fischer’s Stiftungsbräu in the 90s, this pale lager as well. Of the two, I’d prefer Erdinger.

  11. Solid as many have said. Generally the beers in germany get less bitter the further south you go so these will be quite light. Others have mentioned Augustiner, which is overrated in my opinion. Depending on where you are you can get better beer from small, local breweries, but your choice will represent German beer adequatley. Cheers

  12. stop recommending 25 different types of bavarian helles as beers to try. they’re all good, but 99,9% the same in the grand scheme of things.

german beer has much more to offer. get a Schneider Weisse Aventinus 06 Doppelbock. That’s variety compared to those beers.

  13. They are average and solid. They are not bad, but there’s nothing remarkable about them.

  14. Spaten is what I call the definition of a beer. Nothing special, just good beer

  15. Rothaus if you want bold taste, spaten is very good casual beer.

  16. Spaten is one of my favourites, but the Erdinger isn’t bad either.

  17. As a brewer for Erdinger I’d say that Erdinger helles is the best. Buuuut, because I am not biased I can say that Augustiner Edelstoff is by far the best helle on the market. I don’t like the normal Augustiner Helle, can’t drink more then 5 without getting headache and also tastes kinda poor but people are so used to it since their early youth that they will always tell you it’s the best.

  18. Unpopular opinion: Germany has set a standard for what beer is centuries ago, and that makes all Helles aim for almost exactly the same. Unless you’re trained in recognizing beers (and probably tasting them at the same time) you won’t taste a difference.

Also, most Germans I know have their preferred one but will buy most others if it’s what available and drink happily.

I’m not saying they’re bad – the average quality is pretty good, and prices for what you get are great. I just get bored sometimes.

  19. Both are pretty solid choices. Can’t go wrong with most Helles Lagers in Germany.

  20. Chiemseer and Tegernseer are my recommendations, the hype for Augustiner Helles is something I cannot understand fully. It’s a solid beer, but needs to be finished quickly as it tends to develop a weird taste if it gets warm and old.
Hopf Weizen is also a really great one but needs to be served in a Weizen Glas.

  21. Get Augustiner. Those are ok but nothing like Augustiner
