  1. Egon Krenz should have the GDR flag, this is just confusing.

  2. Ooooh deuxième ! Même ça Macron, il y arrive pas !

  3. Andersson [was a lot longer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andersson_cabinet) than *huit heures* though?

Edit: I’m an idiot. From my own link:

    > The cabinet were originally planned to be installed on 26 November 2021 during a formal government meeting with King Carl XVI Gustaf, but Andersson decided to resign due to a precedent regarding changes in a government’s composition; this happened just seven hours after the vote in the Riksdag.

  4. Anneli Jääteenmäki translates to ice tea hill (her name is really Jäätteenmäki)

  5. Love Amintore Fanfani tried again 37 years later only to be worst than before

  6. Amintore Fanfani threw the towel after hours just to get reelected after 37 Years and, again, give up his post

  7. Albertas Šimenas ( Lithuania ) even got an independence medal.

When Lithuania needed MP the most ( 1991 ), he was hiding with his family :DDDD

    What a joke

  8. In Poland, we had 2 weeks government in 2023. It was third, if I remember correctly government of Mateus Morawiecki. Our president ruled him to make cabinet, but parliament voted two weeks later, and canceled it, then opposition leader made government (he lost election, his party was second, but he made coalition, which had majority). Funny thing is, that cabinet is now falling apart.

  9. Eg on never lost his premiership. His country just vanished.

  10. For what I understand Fernandes Costa was never actually a government, has he resigned on the same day as he was suppose to take office, but before taking office. It became known as the 5 minutes government, and an example of the extreme instability of the first Portuguese Republic.

  11. From Poland alone it’s missing Ignacy Daszyński (3 days), Artur Śliwiński (9 days), Władysław Grabski (for the first time he was a prime minister for 27 days), Wincenty Witos (his third goverment lasted for 4 days) and Kazimierz Bartyzel with an impresisve hat-trick of failed governments consecutively ruling for 20, 108 and 3 days.

  12. Would be interesting to see which ones are part of legitimate political happenings or otherwise.

For example Nikos Sampson was installed as part of a coup.

  13. Missing 3rd government of Mateusz Morawiecki in Poland, lasted 16 days (27.11 to 13.12.2023).

  14. Macron just put a second coin to try again to beat the record with Lecornu.

  15. I remember being in arts class when Andersson was elected prime minister

Later that evening I saw on the news how she had resigned

  16. As Macron initially rejected Lecornu’s resignation, his (first) government actually lasted 3 days, not 14 hours.

  17. Serafín María de Sotto’s government is missing. His government lasted about 24 hours. He was appointed Prime Minister of Spain on the late afternoon of the 19th of October 1849, and sacked the next day in the early afternoon.

  18. As a Belgian, please do the same for the longest time without a government.

  19. Damn, we have to lose at everything. Portugal had the record for so long, but even in this category, we lose it again… Could you guys let us take the W at least once?

  20. Didn’t realize there were so many short-lived administrations in Europe’s history

  21. And I thought Morawiecki’s 2 and a half week third cabinet was short.

  22. Estonia’s [Ado Birk’s cabinet](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ado_Birk%27s_cabinet) in 1920 was officially in office for 3 days, but realistically Birk resigned just 40 minutes after having been appointed into office as he had been appointed with 18/120 supporting votes, 3/120 against and the rest remained neutral. Birk realized his low actual support and resigned after a break in the session, until replaced by another cabinet two days later.

  23. It’s incorrect. They listed a portuguese governement from 1920 so multiple other French gouvernements should be listed too.

One French gouvernement lasted one day in 1924 and two lasted two days during the Fourth Republic.

  24. The italian numbers are full of errors. The shortest italian government ever is Tittoni’s with 12 days only, but it seems the chart is going by time before resignation (otherwise the ones listed here mostly lasted over 100 days). If we go by time before resignation that then the top 5 shortest italian government are these:

    1) Andreotti I, 8 days, 1972 (actual days: 129)

    2) Tittoni, 9 days, 1905 (actual days: 12)

    3) tied:

    Andreotti V, 10 days, 1979 (actual days: 137)

Fanfani VI, 10 days, 1987 (actual days: 102)

    5) Fanfani I, 11 days, 1954 (actual days: 22)

There’s several others that are shorter than some of those on the graph, including: De Gasperi VIII, Di Rudinì V, Nitti II, Fortis II, Badoglio II and Menabrea I.

  25. Liz Truss was just the leader of the government, the conservatives stayed in power after her. In the UK you vote for a party, not a person.

  26. I was wondering how the Sweden one happened: basically Sweden let’s you become PM not if the majority of Parliament vote for you, but if the majority do not vote against you. So she became PM effectively with a minority and then 8 hours later her budget was defeated and she was forced to resign. She was reelected PM a few days later.

  27. What about Diego Martínez Barrio during the spanish 2nd Republic?

  28. The latest Dutch government (the Schoof coalition) has been in office for 666 days.
