I enrolled for this raffle to win a GA subscription: https://top-wettbewerb.ch/de/sbbgutscheine/. A few weeks later I was contacted to have "already" won a free tax consultation:

"Congratulations! You have won!
You will continue to participate in the online competition (2nd class general subscription worth 3995 Swiss francs), but until then you have already won:
As a partner of the competition, CLARK offers you for 2025 a free tax return & financial consultation for tax optimization: […]"

Sent from britt.sandman[at]finturis.ch. Maybe for once in my life I got lucky with a random raffle, but I found it quite suspicious. A follow-up e-mail quickly followed from britt.sandman[at]ch.clark.io asking for personal data (address, income, property, marital status, tax return deadline, permit, etc.). It became more suspicious, given the change of email. I understood that Clark is a real consultancy group though. I decided to do some more due diligence and looked up this person's name on linkedin. I found a match although the profile was completely empty, with zero connections. Finturis.ch exists as well and shows a seemingly real website with a contact form, although its content is extremely mainstream and all photos seem stock photos. I wouldn't be surprised if it was AI-generated in a couple of minutes. I decided to let it slide. A few days later (after not replying) I was called. I explained I was not sure if I should send my data, so we agreed for a phone consultation next Tuesday evening (in 2 days from now). I received a confirmation e-mail, this time from no-reply[at]finturis.ch. The phone call seemed real, but I'm still somewhat puzzled by previous signals. Am I falling for a sophisticated scam or am I just being paranoid here?

  1. Dude… At best you’ve won the right to get a sales pitch to buy things you don’t want.

  2. As someone that like doing raffles: Yes it’s quite usual you “win” rebate coupon (such as 10% but only if you buy >500chf or something silly), but mostly you win consultations, which is the whole point of the raffle. And you never hear about winners:)

I avoid raffles from insurance / finance companies, they always advertise really awesome prizes, in reality the only win is a phone call and consultation.
