US President Donald Trump on Sunday once again claimed credit for resolving several global conflicts, including the long-standing dispute between India and Pakistan. Speaking aboard Air Force One en route to the Middle East, Trump said he has “solved” eight wars, including the one between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He boasted that his use of tariffs and trade threats ended the India-Pakistan tensions “within a day.”

New Delhi, however, has firmly denied any US involvement in Operation Sindoor or the subsequent ceasefire. India maintains the truce was achieved through direct talks between the militaries of both nations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the external affairs ministry have dismissed Trump’s claims, asserting that trade or tariff discussions with Washington played no role in the decision.

The conflict began after a terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. A ceasefire followed on May 10 after dialogue between the DGMOs of both nations. Trump’s comments came as he departed for the Middle East to mark the Gaza ceasefire and co-chair a peace summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
