People have no idea what an historic and dramatic day Israel is having right now. Everyone is on ecstasy, dramatic headlines keep pouring in, even the news channels are confused.
Trump is expanding the Abraham accords while restarting the Israeli-Palestinian peace process which died during the second intifada.
Love him or hate him, he is leaving dust to most world leaders and especially to the hypocrites in Europe. Who despite endlessly obsessing over those issues, have managed to achieve exactly nothing (Unless you count encouraging terrorism as an achievement).
So the important bit of info here is that Israel and Indonesia don’t have any official relations, so this might be a step towards changing that.
Indonesia seems to be going all-out on diplomacy. Less than three weeks ago, they concluded a new trade agreement with Canada. It’s Canada’s first bilateral trade agreement with an ASEAN country. Now, a first visit from Jakarta to Israel. Lots of history happening in quick succession.
I know Prabowo is heading to the Middle East.
Israeli newspapers have talked about such things before, and until Prabowo sets foot in Israel, I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
This came out of nowhere
I forgot to submit an SS, so:
SS: cool stuff’s happening

Prior to October 7th, Indonesia was rumored to be next in line to join the Abraham Accords after Saudi Arabia. During the war, both countries conditioned peace on the existence of a Palestinian State or a pathway to one. Today, on the most significant ceasefire since the war’s beginning, Indonesia’s president visiting Israel marks a new hope for Israel to return to its track of making peace sith countries with which in decades past was so far fetched so as to be ludicrous.

An official from Indonesia’s foreign minister has denied that such visit will occur. Prabowo however is currently in Egypt for the high level summit on Gaza.

Indonesia already said this is not true.
