Everyone is always “too” [insert whatever here] to serve any purpose when it comes to the climate or other large-scale problems.
Calling a 20-something “too old to serve her purpose” (not this source, but quoted in it) is such an obvious tell to let people off the hook and excuse mass cowardice and irresponsibility.
Humans take missteps and make mistakes, as do public figures. The difference is that everything the latter do is subject to armchair scrutiny and persists in the public record.
A young (to reiterate, 22 is in no way “too old,” even for celebrated climate hero (/s) Leo DiCaprio) neurodivergent woman will be ripped to shreds because she’s everything society hates: a woman, different from the norm, and driven by a sense of responsibility that actually shapes her life.
People who deny climate change aren’t smart enough to argue the scientific facts, so they attack the person instead.

The article has a paywall, I can’t read it, can someone summarize it?
“People” = that proportion of the population who see good and it reminds them of their own failings. Should read “… bitter people hate her for it”. or simply, “hateful people hate someone else.”
“You cant disagree with her, she’s just a child!”
*waits patiently to disagree with adult Greta*
“Wow, what a hater, how can you disagree with this woman?!”
They shouldn’t, she’s great and way braver than I am
