The increase in loans by Italian banks to businesses accelerated in August compared with the previous month, Bank of Italy data showed on Thursday.
Bank credit to businesses rose 1.2% year-on-year, the central bank said, after a 0.7% increase in July.
Italian residents’ deposits with domestic banks increased 2.7% year-on-year in August after a 2.9% rise in the previous month, the data showed.
Banks slightly trimmed their bond issuance with sales up 2.7% yearly from a revised 2.8% increase in July.
