The Government of Saskatchewan’s latest public offering of Crown oil and gas rights on Tuesday generated $7,338,034 in revenue for the province. The Estevan-Weyburn region was the primary driver of the sale, contributing nearly half of the total revenue.

While the results are a significant drop from the $24 million generated in the August 2025 offering, the province has raised $52,762,018 over the first four sales of the 2025-26 fiscal year. According to a government news release, the total already surpasses the entire revenue earned through all six offerings in the previous fiscal year.

The Estevan-Weyburn area brought in $3,474,184, the most of any region in the province. All 40 parcels posted in the southeast were sold, covering a total of 4,904 hectares.

The single highest bid in the entire provincial offering came for a parcel in the southeast. Prairie Land & Investment Services Ltd. paid $863,628 for a 1,562-hectare exploration licence north of Gainsborough.

Additionally, Saturn Oil & Gas Inc. made the highest bid on a lease in the offering, paying $714,906 for a 254-hectare parcel west of Torquay. That purchase also represented a significant value, averaging $2,806 per hectare.

Across Saskatchewan, 85 of the 90 parcels posted in the sale received acceptable bids, covering a total of 12,128 hectares. The Lloydminster area generated the second-highest revenue with $2,106,595. The Kindersley area brought in $1,317,181. The Swift Current area generated $440,072 in sales.

The government offers two types of dispositions. Leases are issued for five-year terms to allow companies to drill for and produce oil or gas. Exploration licences are issued in less-developed areas for terms of two to five years.

The next public offering of Crown petroleum and natural gas rights is scheduled for December 2nd.
