I heard Riga has demolished most of its soviet past quiet well, with the Victory Park being demolished, and other soviet statues being vanished I didn't know what to expect.

I started my soviet journey by going to Spilve Airport, a soviet airport in Riga with hammer and sickle logo, lots of planes and abandoned buildings, it was like going back in time, so sick!!

Next I went to Victory Park to see if there's any remains of the destroyed monuments, and nope.. they're all completely gone…

Next I went to a Soviet Flea Market, where I could buy soviet pins, a soviet passport and soviet money! Very cool!

And secondly lastly I went to the coolest monument I've ever been to…Salaspils memoriāls. Huge TITANS overlooking the horizon, made me feel like an ant!

Lastly, I went to SAM! A soviet monkey monument to remember the animals who were sent away by the soviets!

I had such a fun day and while most of Riga's soviet past is erased, there's still some things to see!

  1. The real soviet leftovers are in micro districts, or more like the districts themselves.

  2. Should have went to Daugavpils then, they refuse to take down anything soviet.

  3. Really missing a key part of a “soviet” journey if you don’t include Museum of the Occupation.
