TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) — James Carville, known for his role in getting President Bill Clinton elected in 1992, continues to be a significant voice for the Democratic Party. On Monday night, Carville spoke at the “Pasta and Politics” event in Terre Haute, which featured speakers like Mayor Brandon Sakbun and Secretary of State hopeful Beau Bayh.

Carville took the stage alongside Democrat Party Chair Joe Etling. They discussed various topics, including the state of the Democratic Party and local issues such as redistricting and voter engagement. “The messaging was exactly what we are trying to message as a party,” Etling said. “People focus on the things that are really important to working-class people. The economy, healthcare, just really things that go back to when he was successful on Bill Clinton’s presidency.”

The event also highlighted the importance of involving young leaders in the Democratic Party. Beau Bayh, a young candidate gaining support from state Democrats, emphasized the need for action. “Talk doesn’t matter if it doesn’t turn into action,” Bayh said. “So we can say all these things we can talk about cost of living we can talk about improving voter participation, we can talk about secure elections. Get out, volunteer talk to your neighbors get people involved in politics.”

Officials told News 10 that roughly four hundred people were in attendance.
