20. María Corina Machado got the Nobel on friday, and just three days later Maduro and his cronies pull this one, which is kind of insane, but very in line with everything else they do. Now, do you know what else happened today? Two activists who fled Venezuela a year ago due to political persecution were shot on the capital of my country, Bogotá, Colombia, like 5 hours ago. They survived the attack, thankfully, but they did get hit, one 6 and the other 8 times.

    Yet, I’m pretty sure tomorrow I’m gonna read at least one message from a tankie writing from some nice suburb in Maine, or something, talking about how Maduro’s media image is a perfect example of how the West manufactures consent around Global South leaders in order to stop them from using oil resources to pay for free education and health for their poor people.

    Venezuelans were truly forgotten by a huge chunk of the Western left.
