1. Madagascar’s president, Andry Rajoelina, has been evacuated from the country aboard a French military aircraft, as protests and a military mutiny threaten to topple his government.
   The demonstrations, which have been ongoing for several weeks over the rising cost of living and elite corruption, have been met with harsh repression by the Gendarmerie.
