Urban concept store focuses on fresh, ready-to-eat meals for city shoppers.
SPAR Croatia has officially opened its first SPAR City store in the centre of Zagreb, introducing a new urban retail format designed to meet growing demand for fast, convenient, and high-quality food shopping in city centres.
The new concept places a strong emphasis on fresh, ready-to-eat meal solutions for busy urban customers. Shoppers can choose from a wide selection of freshly prepared items, including salads, chia bowls, skyr yoghurts, and SPAR To Go favourites such as focaccias, mini pizzas, croissants, prepared dishes, and desserts. The store also offers freshly cooked meals like stews, side dishes, grilled vegetables, and meat options that can be reheated at home.
Located in a renovated 19th-century building with a retail area of nearly 200 m², the new store was completed in just five months in close coordination with Croatia’s heritage protection office. The company invested over €1 million in the project, highlighting its commitment to combining modern retail with historical preservation.
Eight employees run the store and customers can also use self-checkout stations for added convenience. The location is equipped with a modern CO₂ cooling system and energy-efficient LED lighting, reflecting SPAR’s focus on sustainable operations.
With this launch, SPAR Croatia expands its presence in the capital, adapting to the evolving needs of urban consumers who prioritize speed, quality, and freshness.
