Ian Banks wrote a novel about it. It’s called The Bridge and is brilliant. Very Scottish.
Blimey. I’ve really not appreciated the size of this bridge!
Great photo to show it.
The hells it for giants? 😂
I can’t see the banana for scale?
There’s a nice cafe where one can sit outside enjoying a hot drink whilst gazing at the bridge as it rises behind some houses.
Just at the top of the picture in the centre there’s a brown building. That’s one of the little hidden bothy which has a kitchen for workers to go take their breaks.
Interestingly the design of bridge allowed it to be built with far less steel than similar bridges of that era. I read that a critic said something to the effect of “it’s invisible in the fog, and will disappear completely in a gale”
I went under it on a boat tour earlier this year, it’s an incredible sight and a wonderful example of engineering. Would definitely recommend
Oops, oh no, what am I gonna do?
Nearly died here years ago. I was a passenger in a car about 2am. Woke up, and the driver was asleep. Terrifying! Amazing bridge 🌉 😍

Better start painting it now, mate.
It’s very difficult to really appreciate the scale of these things until you see them in person.
And how much paint you need!
Where is the Fifth?

That thing is huge. I didn’t appreciate how big it really is – as the actress said to the bishop.
“The Forth Bridge”
It’s either that or one of the road bridge. This is THE bridge!
Kudos to whoever put up the scaffolding.
