The Kindersley area was one of several regions to surpass $1 million in revenue during Saskatchewan’s latest Crown oil and natural gas public offering.

Held on October 7, the sale brought in more than $7 million provincewide, according to the Government of Saskatchewan. Estevan, Lloydminster and Kindersley each exceeded the million-dollar mark, with Swift Current also generating sales.

The Kindersley area brought in $1,317,181.62, placing third among the province’s four producing regions. The Estevan area led the way, generating $3.47 million in bids, while Lloydminster followed with just over $2.1 million.

In total, 90 parcels were posted for the October offering, with 85 receiving acceptable bids and covering more than 12,000 hectares.

Prairie Land & Investment Ltd. submitted the highest overall bid in the sale, $863,628.23 for an exploration licence north of Gainsborough, while Saturn Oil and Gas Inc. placed the top lease bid at $714,906.52 for land west of Torquay.

This was the fourth of six public offerings for the 2025–26 fiscal year. To date, Saskatchewan has raised more than $52.7 million from Crown oil and gas land sales, already surpassing last year’s total revenue. The August 2025 sale alone brought in $24 million.

Leases in these offerings are issued for five years and grant the right to drill for and produce oil or natural gas. Exploration licences typically run two to five years and are used for less developed areas.

The province said several factors influence public offering activity, including oil and gas prices, geological potential, and market conditions.

According to the Fraser Institute, Saskatchewan ranks as the top Canadian jurisdiction and the third-most attractive region overall in North America for oil and gas exploration, behind Wyoming and North Dakota.
