   In fact taking 2 million men out of their jobs will accelerate the collapse

   Moscow are only doing this because their ability to keep the pressure up and make even the minimal gains in this war is faltering. They categorically have done all they can to prevent mainstream civilians feeling the war negatively affects them, this is not a choice they wanted to make.

6. The changes concern “active duty” reserve – people who are currently not in the army, but signed a special contract (and receive some money). In 2019 the number of such people was estimated to be less than 1000.

   Not sure where the author took the “2 million” number. Probably from an MP quote from 2023, but that number is believed to be significantly overblown. It’s probably more than 1 thousand, but not 2000X more.

   Besides, mobilisation decree which is now is in force allows this anyway.

7. putin did similar thing before invasion into Ukraine. Through their Federation Counsil he passed approval to use armed forces abroad. It was several days before 24.02.2022

And there were many other methods that could’ve ensured that Ukraine doesn’t join NATO if they were so concerned. This war is ridiculous. Millions of men dead for absolutely no gain to anyone.
