This is one of those stores reported by London Centric as 'Tax evading gift shops'
Not sure whether it's really closed or just 'phoenixing' like those Harry Potter shops.

  1. So many memories of working here when it was HMV. The music section was on a sort of separate mezzanine floor, so we had a lot more freedom to play whatever we wanted.

  2. Is this the Trocadero one?

If so, please can we have something cool at the Trocadero again?

  3. Like the Terminator, it’ll be back, in one form or another.

  4. So as part of the tax evasion/laundering cycle they close and everything is written off, and then magically a very similar business reopens with similar stock a short while later.

  5. Wish the dick heads who keep opening these would just disappear and stop ruining highstreets

  6. It will reopen at the weekend. Same signage, just with a little mustache or something to make it appear different.

  7. My bet is it will suddenly turn into a Harry Potter shop

  8. There is one in Cardiff. They regularly close down and reopen I have been told.

  9. I used to work there when it was HMV and I always think it’s funny that there’s a part of the shop that used to be a toilet where I used to poop or hide and now there is sweets RIGHT on the spot. Gives me chills. I could never

  10. Well I know where I’m going tomorrow.

Curiously, this used to be Kingdom of SWEETS, run by well-known businessman Chase Manders. (I’ve been fascinated ever since I cycled past it in lockdown 2020 when every shop around there was closed but it was curiously open and trading to no one.)

Then Manders was cut out and it became a Kingdom of TREATS, with a curiously similar logo. As I’ve reported, this unit has cycled through multiple tax evading owners since 2021, most of them overseas students being used to sign the paperwork, all being granted tenancies by a property company controlled by the billionaire Asif Aziz: https://www.londoncentric.media/p/asf-aziz-london-candy-shops-gift-shop-unpaid-tax

There is only one other Kingdom of TREATS in the UK: In an Edinburgh building… also controlled by Asif Aziz’s property company! And it also evades taxes! What are the odds! https://www.londoncentric.media/p/edinburgh-princes-street-gift-shops-asif-aziz

  11. That’s funny, it’s nowhere near the end of the tax year yet

  12. All kingdoms fall, eventually, or something like that.
