I have used screwdrivers from Swiss Tools multiple times in different places where I have worked, and also at home. In all the occasions there were two common factors:

  1. They are really good quality, and can last for a lifetime.
  2. They stink.

What the hell is wrong with the handle of these tools? I used thousands of screwdrivers in other countries and they all had different characteristics, but they never stink. I never thought that 'stinky' would be worth to add in the review of a screwdriver, lol

Just wanted to share something I think everytime I have to use one of these.

  1. So true! It’s some mix of plastic that does that, happen to some buckets etc too.

    Blast from the past.

  2. We usually store them with our cheese so they keep this original smell and we remember home

  3. isch normau, die “schwitze” us mit de jahre….. lufterfrüscher id wärchzügchischte und guet isches

  4. In the production of them buturic acid is used which leads to the odor if you have them someplace not well ventilated (like in a toolbox). For some years now they added vanilla to the mix to counteract it.

And yes, factory fresh pbswisstool screwdrivers smell like vanilla 😀

  5. As per their FAQ:

When stored in airtight containers such as drawers and tool cases, handles made from the modified natural cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) substance develop an unpleasant odor. The development of an odor is not linked to the material properties, i.e. the product remains qualitatively sound in terms of its functionality.
To neutralize the odor, we add a discreet vanilla fragrance to our CAB handles.

    The more you know.

  6. yea man last time i checked mine i thought someone vomitted into the bag

  7. Dachte immer hat was mit kontakt mit kühlschmierstoff zu tun. Btw das sind die besten für den “druckluft schwebe trick”

  8. I have PB Swiss Tools PB 53 screwdrivers (mini drivers with interchangeable blades) and even after years of use they still stink quite intensely. When you touch them the hands smell too. It’s a weird smell, kinda like very chemically smelling chocolate. I was hoping the smell would wear off after a week or so. Buy no, years later they still stink.

  9. Tbh I always thought it was a terrible substitute for a dildo.

  10. You can send them to swisstools and they’ll regripp them for free

  11. I use this every day at work. The best screwdriver brand in my opinion

  12. Yes, they smell like a toolbox. Or the other way around.

  13. No they don’t. They smell of vanilla for the purpose of not stinking 🤣

  14. lol 😂 they literally do! 😂 I have a pair for work as well! I was given them three years ago and they still stink like on a day one! That stink never leaves!

  15. Weirdly enough 9/10 workers store tools in a toolbox, chest, drawer of some sort!

  16. Why don‘t they simply use ANY other material that don‘t stink?

  17. I had the same ones in a toolbox where i used to work at and it smelled like vomit

  18. They are fantastic screwdrivers but they smell like vomit.

  19. Last time I thought my mate threw up in the toolbox after a night out
