The Management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), has expressed appreciation to the Niger State Government for engaging its researchers in the completion of the Bida Basin hydrocarbon development and de-risking project.

The commendation was conveyed in a statement signed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, who also serves as the Lead of the Bida Basin Project Consortium, a partnership between IBBUL and the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna).

Professor Sulaiman described the initiative as a strong vote of confidence in the capacity and expertise of IBBUL’s research team, adding that the University remains fully prepared to commence mobilization and execution of the project in earnest.

“As a consortium, we are confident that the remaining 30 percent of the exploration work will be completed within the stipulated timeframe,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

He assured that the consortium would deliver on its mandate efficiently, emphasizing IBBUL’s proven record of academic excellence, research innovation, and service to national development.

“We shall not disappoint in the execution of this gigantic project. We are a trusted name,” Professor Sulaiman affirmed.

The Bida Basin petroleum exploration project is a strategic initiative aimed at harnessing the region’s hydrocarbon potential to boost economic growth, energy development, and industrialization in Niger State and beyond.
