  4. Russia did worse in this “special operation” than the OG Crimean War (450k), the Russo-Japanese war (275k), or the Winter War (up to 400k). Way to speed run a repeat of WW1, Russian Civil War, and WW2 there Putin.

  5. No vehicles, no air force, just drones, some missiles,old artillery and men. 

      If it takes two million more dead Russians, so be it. The call ups will hopefully galvanize the world to give Ukriane all it needs.

  6. Russia’s casualty count at the hands of Ukraine’s defenders is already approaching 2 million, so the number of reservists has a certain symmetry to it.

    But what’s the matter? I thought that North Korean manpower was going to sweep the board. I thought Ukraine was doomed, due to all the North Korean troops that were soon going to flood the front lines.

    Did that not work out?

    Did they not make it back home for some reason?

    Ah well, we’ll see how the reserve muster works when there’s no meaningful security presence anymore across the country. How do you stop people fleeing the country when you’ve already mustered out your border patrol?

  16. This stuff is just another reason why I still find it absolutely insane that Ukraine not only resisted fully mobilising, but have actively allowed people to leave the country.

    In all seriousness, they don’t have the capacity to pay 2 million reservists, let alone equip and feed them.

    We’re entering end game territory for the Putin regime.

  19. This is sure to be a popular move in russia. There is a reason those reservists were not signing contracts voluntarily.

  32. Openly threatening to call up 2 million will accelerate the rapid decline of their economy. It might be enough to keep plugging the soon-to-be holes in the front lines, but the holes in the economy will grow quicker.

    To keep their economy going long enough, they will need to trick a lot more foreigners with ‘fake job requests’.

  35. Russia is bleeding. It doesn’t matter if it wins the Ukrainian war, it is losing its status as a first rate global power. It will have to collapse to reconstruct itself as a country.
