YORK, S.C. (WBTV) – A natural gas leak shut down a busy road in York County Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
The leak was reported around noon on Wednesday, Oct. 15, along West Liberty Street near Fleetwood Drive in York.

Officers blocked off the roadway and urged travelers to avoid the area “until further notice” as crews worked to assess the damage.
Customers in the area were advised that gas service interruptions may happen during repairs.

Authorities said they coordinated with the school district to ensure students and that all bus routes were safe. There was no threat to any school.
It was not immediately clear what caused the leak.
