French government survival uncertain as opposition demands Macron’s exit • FRANCE 24 English
Sebastian Lukas by President Mron to hold budget talks with all political parties and he’s got until tomorrow evening. But the farright national rally of Marin Le Pen has declined the invitation. They’re calling for snap elections with polls indicating they’d fare better than they did last year. For more on all of this, we can go across to James Andre standing by uh at the prime minister’s office. James, good afternoon. Any chance of a Hail Mary for Sebastian Lukonu or are his days still numbered? Well, look, it’s going to be very, very complicated. One of the main players is going to be received here and meet Sebastiano Cornu at 5:00 p.m. local time here in Paris. That’s an information that’s just come through. This is Bruno, who is the outgoing interior minister and who was one of the reasons this government was forced to step down along with, you know, Bruno, which was being very very criticized. This is the former economy minister uh from the first seven years of Emanuel Mron’s two tenures and who is considered by a lot of the opposition as the man responsible for a trillion euros worth of extra debt for France. So indeed there are things that are being changed uh there are moves but it’s very very unclear if indeed uh this government can survive or even if negotiations can uh take place. what the prime minister has said, look, political parties, we need to at least agree on two things. One of these things is a uh a budget for France because indeed this budget needs to be uh voted in order to for the nation to carry on uh and to go into next year without being faced with a massive economic crisis. But then the other one is uh novel Calon, New Calonia, which is a French territory where there is unrest at the moment. So what’s happened till now is that indeed the former prime minister has met with his own allies that have been very critic of Emanuel Mu at this stage. We saw former uh prime minister actually called for him to resign. That was uh yesterday. So indeed there is tension within the central block who are the natural allies of Emanuel M. But then what he’s trying to do now is garner support from other parties. James, I mentioned earlier that the National Rally isn’t even taking part in these uh talks with the prime minister. So, is Emanuel Morn just delaying the inevitable? Well, I mean, that’s the big question mark. A lot of people don’t really understand where he’s trying to go with these this new round of discussions. A lot of people here are pointing out that there were 27 days of consultations in order to try and build the previous government that only asks lasted for about 14 hours and now well we’re having new consultations with the political parties. Uh obviously what we are seeing is various parties asking for various different things. Indeed, the national rally has been calling uh for uh a for snap elections ever since the fall of the previous government that of Franis Beu. They see themselves as standing to gain from snap elections that could take place right away. If you take the far-left party, the France unbowed, they’re actually calling for Emanuel Mako himself to step down because they believe in a presidential election they could farewell. Now the big question is can indeed Sebastiano garner enough support between the center and the two moderate left and right-wing parties in order to survive this crisis. Well, that would be obviously what Emanuel Mron would like to see happen. But what the national rally saying is look, he’s not looking things uh not not looking at the situation as it is. And now there is you know a necessity for some stronger changes some more meaningful changes and that indeed is the position from which Marin Le Pen and Jordan Bala are saying look we’ve already come here from to meet the prime minister twice we don’t see the point of doing that a third time his exact words were you know this is only doing more to help Emanuel Mron rather than help the French people indeed we we’ll see
France’s political crisis deepens as Emmanuel Macron asked Sébastien Lecornu, who resigned as PM, to find a way out of the crisis. Lecornu is meeting with his supports and with oppositions, but it remains unclear if the government can survive. Two major issues dominate the talks, according to FRANCE 24s James André : the budget and the situation in New Caledonia. Meanwhile, President Macron seems to be delaying the inevitable as opposition parties call for his resignation or snap elections.

Don't leave, just relinquish executive power to parliament. Remain as ceremonial figure head.

It is easy for Macron! He will just blame Russia and Putin and it's done!
Macron made his own bed. Clown 🤡
Surprised they haven’t blamed all this on trump..
Zelenski thought him how to dick around…
He is a small loser!
When you’re merely a pitiful, failed politician with no accomplishments in your own country — a scion of a family that assimilated back in the days of the Inquisition — you compensate by trying to bark louder than the small, yapping dogs. In the end, you’re just a worthless Chihuahua.
Macron is not fit for the position.
I wonder if the french are idiots – I mean how do you think France can survive economically when the retirement age is so low as 62-64. In France the pensions are state pensions it's extremely expensive when the average life expectancy is getting higher and higher. In Denmark where I live the retirement age is approaching 70.
5 PM's in two years. The French will do ANYTHING to not work the jobs they get paid to actually DO, up to and including collapsing their own government over and over
