  1. Fine, that’s it. New government. Food, shelter, healthcare, and education for everyone.

  2. Scott Bessent is shook right now. Way too emotional for the job.

  3. Cool reminder that a shutdown Trump Administration is hardly different than a funded Trump Administration.

  4. “You better have alternative plans for Thanksgiving.”

I fail to see how that goes in favor of the Republicans. You ruined people’s holiday plans that way. Even if you wanted to blame the democrats, *you all* did not do or propose anything to make it better. That’s what makes these negotiations a pissing contest. If you offered something to the democrats and they rejected it, then okay, I could see reps saying “Well we offered this, see what’s going on? The Dems are ruining Thanksgiving!” But they are choosing the worst possible option by offering no alternative to those looking for action from someone. There are plenty of people in the middle who just want action from *somebody*. People say the GOP are masters of the message now but this is really terrible messaging.

Edit: I also just saw they want to pass “mini bills” for specific funding to try and smoke out Dems by saying they *are* willing to fund these things but are hopelessly clinging to the healthcare portion and have no reason to do so. I really don’t see the point of this here, the other portions of funding were never in doubt by Dems.

  5. This is probably gonna beat the 35-day record one, yeah? Parties are at a complete stalemate in almost every sense

  6. America has the worst political system in the western world.

  7. Day 2 of saying “sequester congress” until it happens

  8. A bill is getting voted on today in the Senate to fund the military, which is honestly kinda bad for Dems. Vote yes and they’re capitulating, vote no and it’ll be harder to connect this to healthcare.

  9. Mike Flood from Nebraska: “We’re in charge of deploying the nuCULAR triad”. Maybe learn how it’s pronounced before you go bragging.

  10. Mike Johnson: “I’ve been kind of busy…” (lying to you every day at these press conferences)

  11. Cheers to Day 15 and never forget that Donald Trump is anti America and tried to steal the 2020 election and he’s a self declared sex offender, a legally liable rapist, a known racist and a documented liar that also stole and displayed classified documents on the bathroom of his private residence where various people including foreign nationals visited

  12. TONIGHT at 9 p.m. Eastern AOC and Bernie are doing a town hall on CNN for which we will have a discussion thread (to be posted around 7 p.m.).

Unfortunately, it won’t be streamed for free as far as I can tell, but it will be broadcast on CNN and there will be at least one text-based live updates page.

  13. >SPEAKER JOHNSON AND LEADER JEFFRIES ACCEPT INVITATION
    TO APPEAR JOINTLY ON C-SPAN

Obviously there will be a discussion thread for this whenever it happens.

  14. Reps trying to sway the image of those showing up for No Kings protests as America haters and terrorists…where have we seen this before?

  15. With all the re districting in red states, I don’t see how dems will ever hold power again. What’s the upside anymore? It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for corrupt actors to seize power. Once it’s seized it’s over. I simply don’t see how the country will ever move Dem again when it’s suppressed at the state level

  16. I’m so fucking tired of this shit y’all. I hate these people so much

  17. The Democrats should start a motion to vacate the Speaker of the House for being unwilling to start a session during a shutdown and for refusing to swear in a legally elected representative.

  18. So… did ICE get their paychecks today?

    did ATC?

    did TSA?

(I know the last 2 didn’t, wondering how it will look when there is no money to keep air travel safe – for ANYONE, billionaires included – but there is somehow lots of money to break abuela’s hip when she’s coming out of church services…)

  19. Reminder that people who are caring for the animals in the National Zoo are potentially not going to get paid if Russell Vought has his way.

  20. What gets me is I’m not sure mainstream media has ever once referred to the current Trump Administration and government as fascist which is what they are 100%. They’re afraid to do so but everything the Trump Admin does checks off all the boxes of fascism.

It’s an ugly word but it needs to be used to label these people who give no fucks about the Constitution or democracy. Democrats should be hammering that the people they’re supposed to be working with are fascists who are taking your rights and liberty.

  21. Can someone break it down barney style for me why the Dems didn’t pass the CR and have negotiations about healthcare afterwards? The CR only lasts until Nov 21. So it’s not like it’s EVER been a permanent solution. Tired of this bipartisan BS tbh
