The European Commission is set to present its detailed work programme for 2026 next week in Strasbourg and Euractiv has obtained the document setting out legislative plans on everything from agriculture to healthcare and defence.
The 30-page paper outlines the coming legislation, pending proposals, and planned repeals. The final version is due to be adopted by the Commission and presented to MEPs by President Ursula von der Leyen next week, meaning the draft could be subject to change.
For example, the document includes a plan to release the Commission’s much vaunted legislative proposal for so-called ‘28th regime’, which would allow certain businesses to bypass national laws, in the first quarter of next year.
A new “taxation omnibus” is also expected in the second quarter, as is an updated proposal on public procurement rules and new regulations on market surveillance and product compliance.
