Appreciate this is probably made up, but it’s pretty accurate. Maybe combine pubs with betting shops.
Except that’s just the half without the boarded up windows and eviction notices.
Mine has no betting shops. About 15% fancy cafes, 5% art galleries that no one ever seems to buy anything from, 10% Charity shops, various craft shops, two bookshops, a Greggs, some interesting pubs, and shops that sell tourist tat. Surprisingly, empty shops are soon filled with actual local businesses.
No coffee shops?
And 2 Greggs for some reason
Not enough Turkish Barbers
What about the shops that sell the emoji cushions and the massive cooking pots?
Lawyers and funeral services too
Forgot the nail salons.
Betting shops need to be higher.
Wheres the phone repair shops?
My local town centre is betting shops, pubs, 2 Polish shops, Costcutter/Post Office, charity shops, pasty shops (I’m in Cornwall), and boarded up banks.
My former local town centre (also in Cornwall) was pretty much the same, just with an overpriced jewellers, phone shops, shoe shops, Subway, banks that are open, a cinema, and boarded up shops like Poundland and Wilkos, but no Polish shops
Grotty takeaways, Turkish barbers, nail salons, vape shops and lots of offies are all “small local businesses”.
Im suspicious of OPS biases.
lol not mine. We have five barbers, five charity shops, three Indians, two chemists, a pub, a wine bar, and a Dominoes.
Small towns, mate. Don’t be tempted.
Blame amazon and you lot for using it
Are most of the other categories not also ‘small local cmm mmmm businesses’ as well though, in that they employ local people?
Turkish barbers and nail bars are by and large local enterprises, the people that own them are local, shop local and supply trade local, just because they might be 1st or 2nd generation “expats” doesn’t mean they aren’t local.
Don’t forget the empty Debanhams that’s now a Spirit Halloween.
VAPE sh0ps everywhere!
Missed the coffee shops, the pawn shops….
And boots
spot on lmao
Our betting shop was replaced by a job agency. Otherwise accurate.
Letting agents and phone case shops should be included
So many are completely empty 9/10 when you go past too, even if money laundering is a big factor I d9n’t think it can support that many empty shops.
The graph is missing dog grooming parlours, my local high street has 3
Even if this were true, it’s no one else’s fault but ours
It’s only the posh/gentrified high streets that aren’t like this. It’s a real shame.
Tell me you’ve never been to Bristol without telling me you’ve never been to Bristol.
Before I moved away Norwich was holding strong 🙏 though a cluster of Turkish barbers were making their mark
You missed Wetherspoons
Early 1980s was pretty rough too. Lots of pound shops.
