At the behest of the Trump administration’s executive order signed earlier this year, the Army is launching the “Janus Program,” which will invest millions of dollars into providing nuclear power to military bases, according to FOX News.
Nuclear power will provide an alternative to fossil fuels, which are currently what Army installations rely on. This flexibility protects bases from becoming overly reliant on global trade to keep the lights on, something that could be put in jeopardy with a potential conflict with China in the Pacific Ocean.
