My Oma finally gave me this after years of wishing I’d have it. Lol. I haven’t personally seen it in action since I was little. Does anyone know how long it takes to spin? Do the blades have to be perfect? I feel like I’m wasting candles trying to get this to work.

It should spin almost immediately. It does help if the blades are at the same angle. But if it doesn’t move at all, I would check whether it’s really absolutely straight. There’s a pin on the bottom of the moving part that needs to be inside a little bowl.
It should start to spin almost instantly. Perhaps it’s missing the proper bearing at the bottom? The axis shold have a metal pin at the end, wich sits in a small ceramic, metal or glass “bowl” so it can spin without resistance.

Try to turn it by your hand. It must be very easy, with no resistance.
The candles should be higher.
If it doesn’t spin, it could be one or several of these problems:
The candles are too short and their heat doesn’t reach the blades. (Cold wind blowing from the side would also be a problem, your candles seem to be burned down unevenly?)
The blades are too steep. Set them more horizontal and only tilt them up (evenly) if the pyramid spins too fast.
The spine is blocked in some way. Try if you can spin it by hand. If it doesn’t spin easily (several turns with a small nudge), you need to clean it, inspect it and find the blockage.
Reply to all: the bottom board underneath wasn’t in its latch completely. Literally fixed that and its spinning!!!!
I have exactly the same one at Home in germany 😍
never use the red candles, they can spoil the wood when melting on the wood. only use the appropriate white candles.
Erzgebirge WeihnachtspyramidI think you need slightly higher candles but it’s just simple convection that makes it all happen. Make sure it’s spinning freely on its own without candles so you know that’s not the issue
My mom has one just like it! Are the blades attached? They’re not in the picture.
Edit – just saw that you fixed it!
