To be fair, the 2 times we had anything close to a socialist government, under Attllee and Wilson, all we got was the NHS, unemployment payments, sickness payments, maternity leave, retirement pension, council houses, national parks, decriminalisation of homosexuality, relaxing the divorce laws, outlawing racial discrimination, liberalising birth control and abortion law.
I’m right wing. But no wear near reform right wing. Fuck that.

When it comes to things like migration, which is polled to be one of the most important issues to people, the Tories haven’t been exactly right-wing.
It’s funny that you think a political party that increased and relaxed mass migration, imposed state caps on energy bills, saw record increases in moolah directed into poorer regions, in moments of crises outright paid everyone’s salaries and have enacted government involvement in the semiconductor, ai and green energy markets as ‘right-wing’, oh I’ve got more! A government that increased the free NHS budget under every government since 2010, guaranteed one of the most generous state pensions and enacted a higher ‘living wage’, by Jesus they’re practically corbynites, but wait, there’s more, a government that enshrined net-zero targets INTO LAW, that signed a future ban on combustion cars by 2035! You won’t flipping believe it but they legalized same sex marriage in 2013 and actually saw increased foreign aid each year by setting a fixed GDP %!
Holy moly the conservatives were actually a lefty, pro-gay, migrant loving,socialist love-fest! And they were called racist Nazis! Our comeuppance? … seeing what a *real* right-wing means.

I just think the left is dogshit on social issues, like immigration and trying to deconstruct traditional institutions, but fucking amazing economically. If the left chilled out on immigration (which only ever helps the corporations 99% of the time, funny enough) and the moralist grand standing, I think most people would vote socialist. Oh, you wanna secure the borders, you wanna promote traditional British national values AND protect the workers? Based as fuck. Easy wins.
