They rather Gaza burn than give up power.
Palestine needs to get rid of Hamas.
You want to be taken seriously as a nation? Demonstrate the ability to self govern without handing control over to terrorists, elsewise Israel ought to take over Gaza and the West Bank permanently.
Submission Statement:
Hamas politburo member Mohammed Nazzal told Reuters he refuses to commit to full disarmament and insists Hamas will continue to exercise on-the-ground security in Gaza – directly contradicting key terms of the ceasefire deal.
Nazzal defended recent public executions as wartime “exceptional measures,” and offered a 3-5 year truce “not to rearm” but as a transitional phase – even though other Hamas leaders have previously vowed in video interviews to repeat October 7-like attacks.
These contradictions expose the gulf between Hamas’ rhetoric and what external actors (Israel, the U.S.) expect under the agreement.
If Hamas continues to flout disarmament and governance clauses, how might Trump’s administration react – sanctions, withdrawal of support, or renewed pressure? And what military, diplomatic, or coercive tools remain available to Israel if this noncompliance escalates?
It was obvious they were never going to disarm, doing so would destroy the story they tell about themselves. Their entire legitimacy rests on being the symbol of resistance. You can read their moves through that story, not through diplomatic language. Once you understand that, none of this is surprising.
“Security.” They’ve done a bang up job of that so far.
Add it to the long list of broken ceasefires that people will blame on Israel.
