  1. I live in the Midwest, and I’ve recently met like 5 people who moved up here from Louisiana.

    I know that’s only anecdotal evidence, but people are definitely fleeing at least the more poor parts of the county ravaged by climate change

  2. I’ve been saying this for years. Its not the storms that will make ghosttowns, its the insurance companies that will do it

    In a few years large portions of Florida are going to be ununsurable. Self-insured is already getting to be the only option for some people and the next time this state catches one on the chin the insurance companies are going to pull stakes all together. Boom. No more mortgages.

  3. There’s a strange little indie movie… Beasts of the Southern Wild I think it was called … that explored this idea, that there would be regions of the country that were just plain feral — no insurance, no government, no rule of law, hardly any people.
