At least we know he has backwards compatibility with Edward Doc.
His Auntie goes by Dot but her real first name is Final-final-final-assignment-2018

He’s just a bunch of junior writers in a zippy jacket
The end credits of the Larry Sanders Show always gave me an extra laugh when the lighting gaffer’s name would flash up as Michael P Orefice. Always seemed like a gag that would have been appropriate to write into the show itself, as Docx seems apt for espionage.

I always like things like this, because it’s probably just a coincidence.
But it’s also possible that the person at Microsoft who pitched naming that name for that filetype just wanted it call that because it was their name, and it was good enough to stick.
Or it wasn’t their name and it was just someone they kinda knew and after it was accepted they sent a text message being like “I thought it would be funny to name the future dominant global document standard after you and see if anyone noticed. They didn’t”
The amount of stuff that is named after someone involved’s spouse or cat is hilarious.
