SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — While some of you may not know, one Sioux City native has made a mark working on multiple famous shows and creating several short films. On Friday, he hosted the world premiere of his latest work here in Sioux City.
ACME crew member Sean McGarry showcased his first-ever feature-length horror movie, “Destroy This Tape,” at the RE/MAX Center. The film has received several accolades, including Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Content, and an Honorable Mention for Best Movie at the Global Film Festival Awards.
Although Sean was unable to attend the premiere in person, his father was present and expressed pride in Sean’s work, stating he is excited to share the film with the Siouxland community.

“You know, back when he was young, and he said he wanted to work on ‘The Walking Dead’. I’m like, ‘You know what? Go for it. Let’s see what you can do,’” said Sean’s dad, Kevin McGarry. “‘We’ll get you a camera, we’ll have you start doing it,’ and he was 11 or 12 years old at the time. And he really fell in love with this whole making movies. He really wanted to entertain people, and this is really fun.”
Not only did the movie premiere in Sioux City draw in a large crowd, but Sean’s showing in Vancouver, Canada, was fully sold out.
