  1. Wait until Redditors see how much all other forms of taxes cost companies, hitting consumers.

  2. That’s more than GDP of Poland, the 20th biggest economy of the World

  3. Redditors: “tax the corporations!”

(Trump taxes the corporations in a way that incentivizes reshoring manufacturing jobs)

Redditors: “he can’t keep getting away with this!”

  4. 2024 US Federal Government tax revenue was $4.69 trillion.
So a $1.2 trillion addition would be a significant amount.

28% tax increases across the board.

What would this do to the economy?

  5. Much much sooner rather than later US consumers simply won’t be able to pay. There are a lot of US consumers who are living off credit and have no real way to repay, and more so are the US consumers who are taking advantage of ‘buy now and pay later’ services for groceries.

  6. Any cost of business is ultimately priced into the product and passed along to the consumer. This applies to both tariffs and corporate income tax.

  7. I get the idea of protecting local industry but 1.2 trillion? That’s insane. Prices already bad enough. People just trying to buy food and gas without crying.

  8. The Trump Tariffs are basically a VAT tax and as such disincent consumption spending. This will have a significant drag effect on the economy.
