For a navy commander hes incredibly naive. You don’t win the war on drugs, but you sure waste alot of money and lives fighting it. Decriminalisation the way to go
So he was in charge when the problems arose, and now that he isn’t, it’s a problem…. fairfucks to him!
A war on any drug will be perpetual.
I mean the government did want people to come into the country..
Customer doesn’t care
They fund horrible gangs that kill and traffic thousands of people every month
It’s been awash here since the early noughties .
Ireland is awash with dodgy cocaine because of Prohibition. Prisons are awash with drugs. This has been the way for the past 20 years
Legalise, tax and education are the ways to solve. Takes money away from the gangs.
The cocaine has come aboard me
Battle? Jesus wept. Come out of the 1980s mindset commander 🙄
DEA, FBI and sometimes the CIA failed. The understaffed gardai were going to win? What are our expectations here? To win the war on drugs?
There’s more members in the Irish coast guard than the Irish navy
Most people who take coke regularly don’t know the longer term impacts to their health – especially people in their 40s who are basically setting themselves up for heart attacks at 50. People think it is relatively fine to take. So maybe work on reducing the demand side of things rather than just the supply side.
Also… “joint task force”.. never not funny.
Who are they trying to fool here? Can we not be serious about any one thing in this country. War on Drugs, fuck off. At this stage its like having a War on Farts. 0% chance of winning. Drugs is the most easiest thing not only to get in this country, but to have hand delivered to your door pretty much 24/7, anything you want.
Like really, how many Gardai do we have 14,000? You would probably need 300,000 Gardai to make any meaningful impact. They seized €302 million in 2023 and €214 million in 2024 (their street value estimate) of all drugs. The illegal Drug industry in Ireland generates probably €4 -5 billion now.
When i was growing up drugs were kind of a taboo thing, now you have farmers and joe soap snorting lines in the local pub.
“*We’re losing the battle”* LOL, the war was lost long ago.
So where could you get some safely? A friend of mine wanted to know.
Not even trying to win it. Half the daily would be going mad
As someone who used to be in the navy, half the lads in there are on coke every weekend, including officers. Fuck off.
I’ve lived abroad for about 20 years, but when I return home it’s crazy how many people are at it.

When were you winning it?
It’s up to my ankles around here!
Of course he’d say awash.
