AUDUBON, New Jersey (WPVI) — In Audubon, community members have made it their mission to remember people who died before the age of 21.
It’s known as “Memorial Grove,” a place where they can reflect and honor the lives lost.
“I got involved because I lost a son. There are no judgments here. We just know that children need to be recognized,” said Marianne Brown of Audubon, New Jersey.
“Parents losing children before their prime is really hard. So that is the purpose of this area. So people understand that they’re not lost, that they still have a place in this world, even though they’re not here with us anymore,” she continued.
Today, volunteers came out to beautify the space during their fall cleanup.
“When you’re from a small town, we are very close and we all grieve differently. Sometimes we may grieve for decades. This is a way for a family to share their grief with the rest of the community, and we’re all here to take that burden away,” said Mayor of Audubon, Robert Jakubowski.
