  1. Not enough. Turn that into a zero.

There’s no such thing as affordable, only subsidised housing.

If you want to reduce the cost, make it easier to build build build.

Yes I know, a million Redditors with nonsense conspiracy theories like land banking, or furriners buying up the housing to just like sit there making no money are going to be all over this.

But maybe just once, we could try a free market as a little treat.

  2. “We’ve been wrestling with this problem and we have worked out that the only way we can build more homes is by building far fewer homes.”

“Makes perfect sense. Good work Steve”

  3. Some councils have been pushing for 50% affordable and then people complain developers walk away

Just utterly delusional in one of the most expensive land value cities in the West

  4. More supply, that’s all we need. “Affordable housing” is a scam.

  5. Some councils are really making crazy demands in regards to the affordable housings for each building. People cannot find places to rent and here we are fighting over the %of affordable

Housebuilders want to make profit, they are not charities sadly

  6. Nooooooooo because people who are unable to work definitely need to be able to live in subsidised housing in zone 1 for reasons

  7. How many of these anti-affordable-home commenters are pro- empty house taxes?

  8. It will get less homes built at higher proft margins.

The general public lose out to big business once again.

Got to love the spin from the politician though. What a piece of shit.
