We play games like HOI4 which sanitise Germany in ww2, the Vikings are the same, but I guess the actual lived experience of them was not so pretty, holding your dead children, father or mother in your arms, or being raped, not sure it was cracking.
To the descendants of these people who establish themselves here, I’m sure there is a kind of mildly heroic element to crossing the channel on a dinghy.
And of course the Vikings were a varied group, in the main they were farmers, pretty mundane.
Still the people here have our own interests, and anyone coming illegally should go back home, we don’t have any money.
