FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (WSMV) – The United States Army is reporting that a sergeant from Fort Campbell died during a “training accident” while deployed in Hohenfels, Germany, on Saturday.
In a release sent on Sunday, the Army confirmed that 34-year-old Sgt. Terell Seales, a Motor Transport Operator (88M) assigned to the 2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team “Strike”, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), was injured during a “vehicle accident” during training at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center.
Seales’ injuries were too severe to recover from, according to the report.
“Sgt. Seales was an exceptional leader and soldier who inspired others to give their very best,” said Col. Duke Reim, Commander of the 2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team (Strike), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). “We remain in close contact with his family to provide care and any support they may need during this difficult time. We are also deeply grateful to our German Allies for their swift response and steadfast support to our soldiers.”

After joining the U.S. Army in 2021, Seales served at Fort Hood in Texas and Fort Drum in New York before he was sent to Fort Campbell in 2024.
During his brief service, Seales earned multiple achievements, including the Army Commendation Medal (two awarded), Army Achievement Medal (four awarded), Army Good Conduct Medal (two awarded), the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge.
His deployment in Germany was his second, after previously being deployed to Lithuania in 2023.
The incident remains under investigation.
