The US President allegedly sought “gossip” about Meghan Markle during his state visit to the UK in September, according to an insider’s claims.

Just weeks ago, US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump touched down at Windsor Castle for an action-packed state visit.

The occasion featured all the traditional splendour and ceremony, including a formal welcome and a state banquet. Whilst the US President appeared delighted by the grandeur and the chance to reunite with his “mate” King Charles, this didn’t prevent him from seeking the latest Royal tittle-tattle.

Despite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – who stepped back from Royal duties in 2020 – not being publicly referenced by Trump, who has previously expressed his disdain for the couple, the US President allegedly raised their names behind closed doors, reports the Express.

According to Royal commentator Tom Sykes, the US President was keen to hear the most recent gossip about the pair, and reportedly approached Queen Camilla for the inside scoop.

Writing in his The Royalist Substack this week, Sykes alleged that a source disclosed how Trump questioned Queen Camilla: “What’s the gossip on Meghan then? What’s going on there?”.

Sykes then suggested that the President “would have liked an exclusive update” on the circumstances.

It’s understood that the royals wouldn’t have discussed Harry and Meghan with the President – a topic they’ve steered clear of addressing publicly in recent years.

This might have left Trump feeling let down, given his repeated displays of contempt for the pair, whom he reckons caused emotional distress to Queen Elizabeth II when they stepped back from Royal duties five years ago.

During a chat with Nigel Farage on GB News in 2021, Trump declared: “I’m not a fan of hers (Meghan). I wasn’t from day one. I think Harry has been used horribly and I think some day he will regret it.

“I think Harry’s been used and been used terribly. I think it’s ruined his relationship with his family, and it hurts the Queen (Elizabeth).

“She (Meghan) is trying do things that I think are very inappropriate.”

Earlier this year, he also branded Meghan “terrible” during a conversation with The New York Post.
