After six seasons in the “Food Truck” world, we will have one LAST fire Friday October 24th at Rooster Auto starting at 4:30pm and will roll while supplies last.
While building a small wood fired pizza oven on our patio, we never imagined scaling into a pizza business on wheels. With a lot of encouragement from family and friends we jumped in. Since 2020, we’ve made a lot of pizzas and a lot of mistakes too. For us, the best thing that we’ve made, were the lasting friendships with our wonderful staff, and with our loyal customers who have supported us from town to town. From street events to caterings, we were lucky enough to have served in 53 towns throughout Eastern Iowa, with our farthest trips being to Oskaloosa, Boone, Strawberry Point and Epworth.
So many people to thank as we close this chapter in our life.
First, we thank God for opening doors, and closing them too. For teaching us persistence, but also showing us peace.
John and Dillon Tuttle for your engineering, technical advice and the excellent craftsmanship, that literary carried this business from the beginning to the end.
Hanna Gregory (Director of Tech Support), the creator of our logo, and the builder of our website.
Rooster Auto for keeping our truck and trailer moving down the road, and for letting us park in your lot.
Tharp Design & Lettering for cool the lettering and graphics on our trailer, and for the Opal & Hazel’s apparel.
Blessed Duo also for cool Opal & Hazel’s apparel and swag.
Bumblee Design for designing our business cards, brochures and letterhead.
Bobbins & Boards for helping each pizza slide into the oven with the excellent handmade pizza peels, and for letting us park in your lot.
Vinton Today for your continued support of a small business with excellent coverage and advertising.
To our staff. We could have never done this without you! You worked tirelessly along side of us from the beginning, and for that alone, we are very thankful. We thank you for sacrificing your family time, countless nights and weekends, including some very late nights to help the show to go on. Some of you are relatives, some of you are friends, but all of you are family to us. Thanks to Barb, Jen, Kendra, Jackie, Dawn and Teri for being our constant staff. We also extend a huge thanks to the following people who also worked with us over the past six seasons.
Whether you worked a lot, or even one time, we are thankful for your efforts. These people include Jennie, Hanna, Carmen, Joanne, Kayla, Trisha, Sharyl, Carol, Amanda, Angie, Roxanne, Patty, Isabelle, Ellie, Jared, Daniel, Brent, Dustin, Darran, Marvin, Wes, Adam and Brian.
So, even though Friday October 24th will be the last time you’ll see us making pizzas, our trailer has found a new home and wood fired pizza will continue! It was very important to us that the trailer was sold to the right people, and after conversations with many interested parties we found them! We are positive that our grandmothers Opal and Hazel would be thrilled with the new owners.
We are pleased to announce that the trailer is being purchased by a large family in Buchanan County. They plan to open up in the Spring of 2026.
(These are the only details for now)
