On the final day of the tournament, Ivan Kudzinau of Belarus (+84 kg) secured his spot at the global forum. During the group stage, the Belarusian defeated representatives from Georgia, Macao, and Chinese Taipei. In the playoff match for a place at the 2025 Karate World Championships, he solved Montenegro’s Nemanja Jovović. Earlier this year, Ivan Kudzinau won gold at a prestigious Series A tournament in Cyprus and made his debut in the World Karate Federation’s most prestigious series competition – the Premier League.
In total, 500 athletes from 105 countries took part in the qualifying tournament in Paris. The Belarusian team was represented by 10 athletes, among whom David Nhuyen (-75 kg) also secured a spot for the season’s main event. Maryia Malakhava (+68 kg) came close to earning a license: the champion of the 3rd CIS Games won her qualifying group but suffered a defeat in the playoffs.
The 2025 Karate World Championships will be held in Cairo on 27-30 November.
