  1. The facility lies about 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) from Ukraine-controlled territory.

  2. Thank you 🙏 for the update on the condition of the processing plant

  3. Open flames on top of the stacks may actually be a normal occurrence, but the billowing black smoke clouds are definitely a problem.

  4. Orenburg Gas Processing Plant, one of the gas processing plants is not yet on fire

  5. That is the largest gas processing plant in the world, with an annual capacity of some 45 billion cubic meters.

(Or so it was… And if Ukraine keeps hitting it, who knows how much its capacity could be taken offline for months or even longer?)

But there’s an interesting wrinkle to this one, in that it handles the output of a major Kazakh gas field. Kazakhstan has been trapped by its turbulent history with the former USSR, as well as its current economic reliance on Russia as a trading partner. Kazakh businesses profit by funneling sanctioned goods to RuZZia, but this grandfathered-in dependence on the RF’s oil/gas infrastructure is now coming to hurt their core economic interests. Will this spur KZ to seek further independence from RuZZia, or throw their lot in with their war goals?

  6. Looks like they built anti drone cages around some of the important sections.
