President Donald Trump welcomed LSU baseball’s 2025 national champion team to the White House on Monday.

“[Louisiana has] been known for politics,” Trump said in his opening remarks. “I think I would say politics, baseball and football.”

He then did a small recap of the Tigers’ season and highlighted certain players for their impact plays during LSU’s College World Series run.

Kade Anderson, Anthony Eyanson and Steven Milam were among those recognized during the highlighting.

President Trump then took time to individually recognize each LSU player that was drafted or signed to MLB organizations.

“I’ve never seen a team with so many people being drafted to the major leagues. I think your record should’ve been better,” Trump said with a laugh.

Aside from the player recognition, LSU head coach Jay Johnson and LSU-Shreveport head coach Brad Neffendorf received a job recommendation from President Trump himself.

“I watch Major League Baseball and they keep hiring the same coaches over and over again,” Trump said. “I’d hire these two guys.”

The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson, R-La., got up and spoke as well.

“Louisiana is a special state filled with great people and a great fan base,” Speaker Johnson said.

Johnson also got a chance to speak at the event.

“It’s the honor of my lifetime to coach this national championship team and be the coach at LSU,” Johnson said. “Not only were they national champions, they were the best baseball team in America last year.”

To end the ceremony, both coaches presented President Trump with specialized jerseys with his name and the number 47 on it.
