The lira USDTRY traded at 41.9050-41.9680 against the U.S. dollar at 0401 GMT, compared to Monday’s close of 41.9580.

The main BIST 100 share index XU100 closed 2.70% higher on Monday at 10,484.39 points.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Asian stocks rose on Tuesday as the prospect of easing trade tensions between the world’s top two economies boosted risk sentiment, while the near-certainty of Sanae Takaichi becoming Japan’s next prime minister sent the Nikkei to a record high.

ERDOGAN ON GULF TOUR

President Tayyip Erdogan visits Kuwait on the first leg of a three-day official trip including stops in Qatar and Oman, with the situation in Gaza likely to feature high on the agenda.

MAIN OPPOSITION PARTY

Ozgur Ozel, leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), will make a speech to his party’s lawmakers in parliament. (1030 GMT)

JP MORGAN

JPMorgan reduced its forecast for Turkey’s interest rate cut on Monday and revised its inflation outlook higher, warning that domestic political developments posed upside risks for both benchmark rates and price pressures.

TOFAS DEAL TOASO

Car maker Tofas said had reached an agreement with Stellantis Europe to extend the company’s Tipo/Ega production until June 30, 2026.

ERDEMIR RESULTS

Steelmaker Erdemir’s net profit shrank to 651.2 million lira ($15.5 million) in the third quarter, from 800.7 million a year earlier, it said on Monday.
